National Honors Society and the National Junior Honor Society recognize outstanding high school and middle level students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS). Great group of peers for a student to associate with. Check for a chapter at your school.

OATAG (Oregon Association of Talented and Gifted) is a statewide non-profit organization interested in promoting the education of talented and gifted students. They have an active list serve which keeps members abreast of advanced math programs as well as legistation affecting the talented and gifted. They also put out a quarterly newsletter.

Oregon PTA is a non-profit organization, consisting of 9 regions, 4 councils, approximately 240 local PTAs, with a total of more than 23,000 members statewide.
